You're reading: Khoroshkovsky appointed as new finance minister

President Viktor Yanukovych’s press service announced late on Jan. 18 that Valery Khoroshkovsky, who has headed the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) since 2010, has been appointed as finance minister.

Khoroshkovsky, who has been relieved of his duties at the SBU, replaces Fedir Yaroshenko, who resigned on Jan. 18.

In prior weeks, Yanukovych criticized the work of Yaroshenko as finance minister but provided few details to the public on what alleged shortcomings had disturbed him.
