You're reading: Khoroshkovsky calls on government and opposition to cooperate on key issues for Ukraine

First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Valeriy Khoroshkovsky believes that the main task of the Ukrainian power is to achieve consensus between the government and the opposition on the fundamental issues of Ukraine's development.

Khoroshkovsky in his article “European Integration: Accelerate not
Delay” published in the ZN.UA edition noted that politicians from
different camps and competent public leaders should undertake
responsibility for the strategic policy.

“This is our main task in the near future – to achieve consensus
between the government and the opposition in the matters of principle,”
he said.

He noted that there are reforms that need to be carried out with
regard to the interests of the state and the nation as a whole but not
those of clans or groups, party organizations and factions.

“Of course, we can declare a boycott against the government and wash
our hands in anticipation of 2015. I am sure: this is the way into the
abyss,” he said.

“Ukrainian politicians from different camps and competent public
leaders should take overall responsibility for the strategic policy and
its practical content, as it was in other post-socialistic European
countries. The power, in its turn, should ensure the invariance of
strategic choices and the effectiveness of mechanisms of cooperation
with political forces and civil society institutions,” the politician
said.
