You're reading: Khoroshkovsky not to stand in parliamentary elections

First Vice Premier of Ukraine Valeriy Khoroshkovsky will not stand for election in the upcoming parliamentary polls.

"I will definitely not run [for election] either on party lists or in a majority constituency," he said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

Khoroshkovsky also said that Ukraine should hold fair, transparent and democratic elections to the Verkhovna Rada.

"Moreover, we have no right to hold anything else. The result has to reflect the will of the citizens," he said.

"The main task is to learn how to admit a defeat, no matter who fails – the authorities or the opposition. One should not scream that the elections were dishonest and unfair before their completion. This causes distrust in the campaign, distrust to those who take part in it, and those who conduct it," Khoroshkovsky said.

"It’s very good that we will have many observers from various international and Ukrainian organizations, and that exit polls will be held. All these aspects should give a fair result," he added.
