Klitschko hopes 15% of voters will vote for UDAR Party

The UDAR Party hopes that at least 15% of the electorate will support its party list at the elections to the Verkhovna Rada, party leader Vitali Klitschko has said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

Klitschko said that the opposition parties would participate in parliamentary elections "in different columns" and have a chance of gaining a landslide victory over the ruling party and its satellites.

"We, for example, expect to garner at least 15% of the vote," he said.

At the same time, Klitschko said that his party was ready to defend election results.

"We are preparing to defend the votes of citizens, including the votes for our party and for the parties that are not associated with the current government. We will work with civil society organizations, Ukrainian and foreign observers and journalists," Klitschko said.

He said that the main peculiarities of the current campaign were "a tough government apparatus, betting on bribery, rather than persuading voters, as well as the absolute ignorance of the government of the opinion of the public and foreign partners regarding the fairness and transparency of the campaign, and attempts to create conditions for a possible fraud at the stage of the formation of the commissions."

The parliamentary elections in Ukraine are scheduled for October 28, 2012.
