Kharkiv – The UDAR Party is ready to put forward its own version of an agreement on the creation of a coalition of democratic forces in the new parliament, party leader Vitali Klitschko has said.

“We’ll be ready soon to make comments and introduce our amendments [to the coalition agreement proposed by the united opposition], or offer our own version. We first need to get a result and then defend it… First the elections, and then the coalition,” he said at a press conference in Kharkiv on Thursday.

He refused to answer whether he was ready to sign on Friday, October 19, at least a declaration of intent to create a democratic coalition with the Batkivschyna United Opposition and Svoboda Party.

“We’re proposing the creation of a parliamentary democratic coalition immediately after the elections. It’s logical. First the election and then the coalition. This is a European tradition. Our position is honest, open, without any ultimatums, demands or any backroom agreements,” Klitschko said.
