UAH 1 billion in state budget funds that the authorities spent on the installation of video cameras at polling stations in Ukraine is wasted money, the head of the legal department of the UDAR Party, parliamentary candidate Valeriy Karpuntsov, has said.

“As a person, who participated in many election campaigns, I should
say that half of the protocols, which will determine the final result in
constituencies, will be updated protocols. Within two days members of
precinct election commissions will travel between district and precinct
commissions and specify the final result of the vote,” the party’s press
service quoted him as saying.

He said that the result of the vote would be determined at this time, however, none of the cameras would fix that.

Karpuntsov said that the only hope was for observers and members of election commissions.

He also slammed the current electoral law, which helps candidates bribe voters and exert administrative pressure.

“The bribery of voters is one of the most common violations in the
current elections. Pro-government candidates running for single-member
constituencies have significant support from local officials. They are
using government apparatus against their opponents, turning a blind eye
to the facts of vote-buying by pro-government candidates. The most
cynical fact is that the authorities are bribing impoverished citizens
at the expense of budget funds, i.e. from the pockets of Ukrainians
themselves,” Karpuntsov said.
