Leader of the UDAR party Vitaliy Klitschko has said that former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko and former Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko should participate in the parliamentary elections scheduled for the fall of 2012.

"Both Yuriy Lutsenko and Yulia Tymoshenko should take part in the upcoming parliamentary elections. More than anyone else, I know that there can be no victory without a fight. Only together can we win,"Klitschko told the participant of the rally on the occasion of the Day of Unity and Day of Freedom of Ukraine on Sofiyska Square in Kyiv on Sunday.

According to Klitschko, though the UDAR party did not join the Dictatorship Resistance Committee, it understands the importance of the unification of the opposition forces. Therefore, on Jan. 22, the UDAR party leader signed an agreement on joint actions by the united opposition.

"We believe that the opposition parties should hold a public debate about the wording of this document. In particular, regarding the use of the quota principle, the mechanisms for determining and nominating single candidates, open lists etc. The agreement should establish specific mechanisms for further work," the politician said.

Klitschko also said that candidates for membership of the Verkhovna Rada from opposition parties should be picked not by party leaders, but by voters.
