Ukraine's first president (1991-1994) and the head of the Constitutional Assembly, Leonid Kravchuk, has said he supports holding a nationwide referendum on amendments to the constitution.
"This issue should be discussed, and we should find out what people think about it," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday, May 18.
At the same time, Kravchuk stressed that the Constitutional Assembly had nothing to do with organizing such a referendum, which was the responsibility of the Verkhovna Rada.
