You're reading: Kremlin: Russian-German relations should not be pawn of internal Ukrainian crisis

State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin said it is inexpedient to link the development of relations between Russia and Germany to the internal Ukrainian crisis.

“Unfortunately, these relations remain a pawn of the internal Ukrainian crisis,” Naryshkin said while meeting with Wolfgang Gerke, deputy chairman of the Left Party in the German Bundestag, in the State Duma on Oct. 2.

Naryshkin said he would like to reiterate that it is inexpedient to “link the development of relations between Russia and Germany, which are valuable in themselves, to the internal Ukrainian crisis.”

Naryshkin said he would like to discuss with his German colleague the events in the Middle East and Northern Africa, and also the migration crisis.

After that, the meeting continued behind closed doors.
