You're reading: Kyiv court rules for ex-PM Azarov’s arrest in absentia

Pechersky District Court in Kyiv has ordered the arrest of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykova Azarov, the Prosecutor General's Office said. 

“At the request of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office, Pechersky District Court in Kyiv ruled on January 19, 2015 to remand the former Ukrainian prime minister, Mykola Azarov, in custody,” the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office said in a statement.

It said the notice of arrest would enable Prosecutor General’s Office investigators to demand Azarov’s extradition from Russia.
