Ukrainian parliamentary Kyrylo Kulykov of the Our Ukraine-People's Self-Defense faction, who recently joined the United Center Party, has taken up the leadership of the Kyiv branch of the party.

Explaining his decision at a press conference on Thursday, he said that his position and vision of the development of Kyiv coincides with that of the United Center Party. In addition, the MP was made a member of the party’s political council. Kulykov said that he applied to join the party as early as last week.

The MP said that he cannot be accused of being bribed, as he had chosen not a pro-government political force, but an opposition one.

Kulykov added that he would be working with a parliamentary group of United Center, which is a part of the Our Ukraine-People’s Self-Defense faction.

He also stressed that the United Center would participate in the elections to district councils of Kyiv. "The United Center Party is still not a leading political force, but it is already not a secondary one," Kulykov. He said the party had a good chance of winning the local elections.
