Former Ukrainian Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko has said that the evidence provided by witnesses read by a prosecutor at a session of the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv on Tuesday is false.

"There are three witnesses who grossly misrepresented me, but I hope that they will change their testimony during their questioning in court," he told reporters during a break in the hearings of a criminal case against him on Tuesday.

Lutsenko said that many of these witnesses had given their testimony under duress. In particular, Lutsenko said that he had information that investigators threatened that criminal cases could be opened against these witnesses.

He said that he wanted an open judicial process, even at the stage of the questioning of witnesses.
