Former Ukrainian Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko has said that former head of Lviv Administrative Court of Appeals Ihor Zvarych has received a deserved punishment, s he has become a symbol of cynical bribery in the judicial system.

"I think that it’s Zvarych’s fault… He advertized himself as the most cynical bribe taker," Lutsenko told reporters on Wednesday before a court session on a criminal case opened against him.

He said that there were larger bribes than those accepted by Zvarych, "but these people are all at liberty."

As reported, Obolonsky District Court in Kyiv sentenced Zvarych to ten years of imprisonment and confiscation of all property.

In addition, Zvarych has been deprived of the right to hold any post in courts or to work in any executive position in government agencies for three years.

Zvarych was charged with taking large bribes. The criminal case against him was opened in December 2008, and in March 2009, he was arrested. He has been in custody since that time.
