Brother of former Ukrainian Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko, Serhiy, has taken oath of the people's deputy at a plenary sitting of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, on Thursday.

Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn said that on July 12, 2012 the Central Election Commission registered Serhiy Lutsenko as people’s deputy instead of a former member of the Our Ukraine – People’s Self-Defense (OU-PSD) faction.

Thus, Lutsenko joined the OU-PSD faction.

As reported, Kyiv’s Pechersky District Court found Yuriy Lutsenko guilty of a number of counts of malfeasance in office and sentenced him to four years in prison on February 27, 2012. In addition, the same court found Lutsenko guilty of negligence and sentenced him to two years of restriction of freedom on August 17, 2012.

The ex-minister is serving his sentence in a penal colony in Chernihiv region.
