You're reading: Lytvyn, Tomenko, opposition absent from parliamentary sitting on Thursday

The opposition factions, Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn and his deputy Mykola Tomenko are absent from the sitting of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, on Thursday.

First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Adam Martyniuk is chairing the parliament’s work today, according to an Interfax-Ukraine reporter.

Members of the BYT-Batkivschyna and Our Ukraine-People’s Self-Defense parliamentary faction are absent from the sitting.

Lytvyn and Tomenko, who announced their resignation on July 4, also did not come to the sitting.

Around 200 members of the majority are considering the issues on the agenda.

The 10th session of the parliament will be closed on July 6.
