UDAR Party leader Vitali Klitschko has said that the parliamentary majority is preparing a meeting of its deputies and may use force to oust opposition lawmakers from the session hall of the Verkhovna Rada.

“They repeatedly reminded us that they do not rule out the unblocking of parliament by force. We were told that today it is planned to hold a meeting of the majority in the session hall of the Verkhovna Rada and that this meeting of the majority will be attended only by members of the Regions Party and the communists. Other deputies, if they refuse to leave the hall, will be physically removed from the session hall of the Verkhovna Rada,” Klitschko said at a briefing in parliament on Monday.

At the same time, he said he did not rule out that “physical pressure could be used on the opposition and members of our party who are blocking the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada.”

Klitschko said that Regions Party faction leader Oleksandr Yefremov had spoken about the possibility of unblocking the parliament’s work by force if it is necessary to hold a meeting of majority deputies.
