An increase in tariffs for housing and utility services poses no threat to Ukrainians in the next three years because of frequent election campaigns, Parliament First Vice-Speaker and Communist Party MP Adam Martyniuk has said.
"Parliamentary elections will be followed by presidential elections. So let us hope that there will be enough common sense not to raise [tariffs for housing and utility services]," he said at a press conference on Thursday, while commenting on the opinion of experts that tariffs for housing and utility services in Ukraine will not be raised before parliamentary elections.
He recalled that President Viktor Yanukovych said in Kharkiv on August 22 that tariffs for housing and utility services would not be increased after parliamentary elections.
"I proceed from the fact that the elections in 2012 will be followed by the 2015 elections. Now the elections are saving us. And you know that people like elections, and I know that the media like them too," he said.

The solution is simple. Abolish presidential rule and adopt a system where the head of state is elected by a constitutional majority of Ukraine's democratically elected parliament as is the case in Estonia, Latvia, Hungrary, Modova and a host of other European States.
Once again Adam Martyniuk must have been dipping his beak into too many bottles of horilka. Should the Party of Regions succeed in perpetrating massive fraud and falsifications and somehow win a majority in the upcoming elections there would be nothing to hold them back to do as they please. They are well known for not following through with their promises and Vitya is an expert with fairy tales. Moreover, the roster of candidates for the Party of Regions in the upcoming election is almost exclusively made up of millionaires, multi-millionaires and some billionaires. These people are only interested in lining their own pockets at the taxpayers expense and have very little if any interest in the shortcomings of the general population. THE PEOPLE OF UKRAINE BEWARE!
