The Ukrainian Interior Ministry has confirmed information on the detention of second Ukrainian president Leonid Kuchma's ex-bodyguard, Major Mykola Melnychenko, in Italy.
"It's really that Melnychenko was detained at the airport of Naples by Italian law-enforcement bodies on the basis of an order from Interpol on August 3," the ministry's spokesperson, Oleksandr Dykusarov, told Interfax-Ukraine on Saturday.
"We have the information that Melnychenko has a lawyer," he added.
