You're reading: New parliament to differ from the old one, says Kravchuk

Ukrainian President (1991-1994) Leonid Kravchuk has said that the newly elected parliament will slightly differ from the previous convocation of parliament.

“How will they work? It’s hard to say. I think that everything will be as before,” Kravchuk said at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.

He said that someone should stop disorder in parliament, which began in rule of President Leonid Kuchma.

The issue how to elect parliament with smallest pressure and fewest falsifications should be put on a referendum so that parliament could become capable of functioning, in particular, the election to parliament under open lists.

Commenting on the speaker, he said that he would like that the person who will not serve everyone, but only to parliament, was speaker.

Kravchuk said that the speaker should observe the law on the parliament regulations and Constitution and respect lawmakers.

“The main thing that the person should be respected only in parliament, but also in society,” Kravchuk said.
