The number of ministries in Ukraine may be reduced from 24 to 16, Head of Main Department of State Service Tymofiy Motrenko has said.

"We are planning to cut the number of members of the government from 24 to 16," he told reporters after a meeting of a committee on economic reforms held in Kyiv on Thursday.

At the same time, the vice premiers may simultaneously lead some ministries. The posts of the prime minister and first vice prime minister will remain unchanged, he said

In addition, the total number of central executive agencies will be reduced from 112 to 64. However, the official did not specify which ministries would be eliminated.

The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers currently consists of 26 members: the prime minister, the first vice prime minister and three vice prime ministers, minister of the Cabinet and 20 ministers.
