You're reading: Opposition is sure Yanukovych to dissolve Rada 30 days after parliament’s blocking

The opposition is sure that the president will sign an order on the early termination of the parliament's powers if the constitutional term foreseen for that ends.

“Today we understand that the president of course has a right to announce the early parliamentary elections if within 30 days the parliament is not unblocked. I think that the president will have no other option than to use this right, as the absence in the country of proper parliament work means not just a parliamentary, but a political crisis in the country… And it will be resolved, and resolved only in a constitutional way through declaring the early parliamentary elections,” deputy UDAR faction leader Vitaliy Kovalchuk said at the press conference on Tuesday.

Deputy Svoboda faction’s leader Oleksiy Kaida, in turn, stressed that three political forces, Batkivschyna, UDAR and Svoboda are ready for the early parliamentary elections.

“If it happens, definitely, we’ll hold talks and only one candidate from three political forces will be selected at all 225 districts. We’re sure that we’ll definitely win,” Kaida said.

As reported, the second session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the seventh convocation did not open on February 5 due to the fact that the opposition blocked the parliament’s rostrum and presidium, demanding the introduction of personal voting.

The 30-day term of Verkhovna Rada’s inactivity was counted form February 5. When the terms gone the president could dissolve the parliament.
