You're reading: Opposition: Law on president’s impeachment will be first adopted in new parliament

The united opposition has promised that in the new parliament it will pass a law on the impeachment of the president, make it a crime to fail to vote in parliament in person, and raise pensions for Ukrainians.

"One of the main tasks is the adoption by the new parliament of a number of reform bills," Front for Change Party leader Arseniy Yatseniuk said from the parliamentary rostrum on Tuesday, April 24.

"One of the first laws to be voted for by the democratic majority is a Ukrainian law on the procedure for the president’s impeachment. The new democratic majority in the new parliament will introduce the procedure of personal voting by people’s deputies of Ukraine. We will introduce criminal responsibility for voting using other deputies’ cards," he said.

Yatseniuk said that the new democratic majority in parliament would conduct reforms in education, medicine, law enforcement and judicial systems.

"We will submit and adopt a comprehensive law on the restoration of social justice, and this concerns the recalculation of pensions, salaries and the living wage, taking into account the inflation rate," he said.

He also noted that the new majority would vote for a law depriving MPs and officials of benefits.
