OSCE election monitoring mission starts working in Ukraine

A mission of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe has started monitoring the Ukrainian parliamentary elections, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's press secretary Oleksandr Dykusarov has announced.

"On September 10, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights started monitoring the elections in Ukraine set for October 28. The ODIHR is the OSCE's independent institution which will monitor the elections under the leadership of Audrey Francis Glover of Britain," Dykusarov said at a press briefing in Kyiv.

Glover had earlier led the OSCE mission in the Ukrainian early parliamentary elections.

There are 16 OSCE experts on the mission's main group. Nineteen long-term monitors will arrive on September 17 and go to different regions. They will also prepare the arrival of 600 short-term monitors who will work on the polling day.
