OSCE ODIHR election monitors to start their mission in Ukraine on September 10

The Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) of the OSCE will start its monitoring mission at Ukraine's parliamentary elections on September 10.

The Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) of the OSCE will start its monitoring mission at Ukraine's parliamentary elections on September 10. 

The mission will be made up of 16 experts of the OSCE and will be lead by a representative of the United Kingdom, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Dykusarov said at a briefing on Tuesday.

According to him, some 100 long-term OSCE election observers will come to Ukraine on September 17, and another 600 short-term observers will come to the country a week before the election day in order to work directly at the polling stations.

Ukraine's Foreign Ministry for its part said it was ready to provide any assistance within its competence to the observers, Dykusarov said.

The elections to the Verkhovna Rada are scheduled for October 28.
