Chairman of the political council of the Our Ukraine party Serhiy Bondarchuk has stated the 12th party congress, at which the decision on the party dissolution was made, is legitimate.
“There are no grounds to say it is [the congress] illegal,” he told reporters after the party congress in Kyiv on Saturday.
He noted that 18 regional organizations of the party at their conferences decided to hold this congress, and this is two thirds of the total membership of Our Ukraine’s regional organizations.
“Unfortunately, Our Ukraine became the accomplice and the party, which works, like a satellite, in the interests of the Party of Regions. Due to the fact that it is impossible according to the ideology of the party participating in the Maidan events, we saw no other step but to terminate the activity of the Our Ukraine party, leave the sign and name of Our Ukraine for Viktor Yuschenko, and leave Viktor Yuschenko for Viktor Yanukovych [the president of Ukraine],” said Bondarchuk.
“We have already made the decision, and there is no party,” he summarized.
