The parliamentary faction of Our Ukraine-People's Self Defense (OU-PSD) has demanded that Ukraine's state budget for 2010 adopted by parliament be immediately reviewed.

Faction leader Mykola Martynenko said this at a morning plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday, May 11.

"I consider it necessary to review the budget, which was drafted under manual control, as soon as possible," he said.

Martynenko said that while revising the budget, "it’s necessary to be guided by purely economic parameters."

"Such an approach will help depoliticize this process and enhance its effectiveness," he said.

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on the state budget for 2010 on April 27.

The hearing of the bill lasted about ten minutes and consisted of a report by the finance minister and the head of the parliament’s budget committee.
