You're reading: Parliament mulls Feb. 3 vote to amend Constitution

Parliament on Feb. 3 may consider amending the Constitution of Ukraine regarding the date for the next parliamentary and presidential elections.

"Let’s focus on Thursday. I’m talking about a law [on constitutional amendments]," Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn said at a meeting of the conciliatory council of the leaders of factions and parliamentary committees on Monday.

As reported, on November 19, 2010, the parliament preliminarily approved constitutional amendments scheduling the next parliamentary elections for October 2012 and presidential elections for March 2015.

The next session of parliament is scheduled for February 1, 2011.
