The Party of Regions faction hopes for productive work together with the Batkivschna faction lead by MP Arseniy Yatseniuk, but sees no ways to cooperate with the Svoboda party, MP Volodymyr Saldo of the Party of Regions has said.

“At present, for instance, we are going to work more and to find common ground with Arseniy Yatseniuk, because we have a lot in common with him. We have the same attitude to the European integration process. Yatseniuk, by the way, criticized at the time the gas contracts [signed] by [then Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia] Tymoshenko,” he said on the Shuster Live political talk show, the Party of Regions’ press service reported.

At the same time, according to him, the Regions Party sees no prospects of cooperation with the Svoboda because of their aggressive nationalist stand.

“All of us are Ukrainians. But I think, the Party of Regions will never agree with Oleh Tiahnybok (leader of the Svoboda All-Ukrainian Union) on the situation, they have create around the nationality issue,” Saldo said.

He offered to judge Ukrainian citizens not by their ethnicity, but by their human and professional qualities, and to create conditions for the development of all Ukrainians. “A lot of people of different ethnicities are good at doing their job. We go to Armenian restaurants, because there are great cooks, to Jewish doctors as they provide best treatment. Let’s work in this area and create conditions for development and not for confrontation,” the MP added.
