The Party of Regions is ready to participate on behalf of Ukraine's southeastern regions in planned negotiations of Russia, the European Union, the United States and the Kyiv authorities, who are expected to discuss possible solutions to the Ukrainian political crisis.

The party’s press service announced on Thursday that such a decision
had been made by the presidium of the Party of Regions Political Council
late on Wednesday.

“The Party of Regions is represented in the local councils of
Ukraine’s eight southeastern regions, as well as has the largest faction
in the Ukrainian parliament. That is why we propose that Mykhailo
Dobkin, who won the primaries at the party congress and is the Party of
Regions’ candidate in the Ukrainian presidential elections, be their
negotiator,” it said.

It was reported earlier this week, that Russia, the U.S., the EU and
Ukraine may hold a four-way meeting in Europe to discuss the Ukrainian
crisis.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov suggested that representatives
of Ukraine’s southern and eastern regions should be allowed to attend
such multilateral consultations.

“We want the south and the east of Ukraine to be represented at the upcoming events,” Lavrov said.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said in response that only official
representatives of Kyiv could participate in any international
negotiations.
