A decision on transportation of former Ukrainian Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko to a penal colony has not been taken yet, according to the spokesman of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine, Ihor Andrushko.

“There is a procedure, according to which a convict cannot be transported to a colony before his appeal and a hearing of the appeal, so as to avoid discomfort connected with transportation of the convict from one region to another for hearings,” Andrushko said.

He also informed that Lutsenko and his lawyers may appeal against his sentence by August 30.
