Ukraine's riot police force Berkut on Wednesday started sealing the streets near the Taras Shevchenko park, where the opposition is holding a rally, the Batkivschyna party's press service has reported.

"They want to obstruct the opposition march along the central streets of Kyiv," it said.

It is almost impossible to access Volodymyrska street, as police have formed a four-line live cordon, the party said.

"Almost all of the nearby streets are filled with police vehicles carrying fully equipped police personnel," it said.

A court on Tuesday banned all opposition rallies in central Kyiv, including on Khreschatyk Street.

The ban does not apply to Volodymyrska Street, according to Kyiv officials.
