If the presidential elections in Ukraine took place in late May, 15.9 percent of voters would support UDAR Party leader Vitali Klitschko and 14.3 percent would back incumbent President Viktor Yanukovych, according to a survey conducted by Kyiv International Institute of Sociology.

Some 9.5 percent of respondents would vote for Batkivschyna faction leader
Arseniy Yatseniuk, 5.8 percent for Svoboda leader Oleh Tiahnybok, and 3.7 percent for
Communist Party leader Petro Symonenko.

However, 18.1 percent of respondents would vote against all presidential candidates, and 15.8 percent were undecided.

Compared with June 2012, Klitschko’s electoral support grew by 7 percent and that of Tiahnybok rose by 3 percent.

Yanukovych’s electoral support shrank by 3 percent, Yatseniuk’s by 2 percent and Symonenko’s by 1 percent.

Klitschko is mainly supported by residents of the central and western
regions in Ukraine (23 percent each), whereas Yanukovych enjoys support in
eastern (26 percent) and southern (21 percent) regions.

The survey was conducted on May 21-30, 2013. A total of 2,030
respondents from all regions in Ukraine were interviewed. The poll’s
margin of error does not exceed 3.3 percent.
