You're reading: Poll: Over 20% of Kyivans ready to support Klitschko in early presidential election

Most residents of Kyiv would support UDAR Party leader Vitali Klitschko if an early presidential election were held, whereas former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko would be second, and MP Petro Poroshenko would be third, according to a survey conducted by the sociological service of the Razumkov Center. 

According to the study, over a fifth of residents of Kyiv (20.2% of all respondents) would vote for Klitschko, 11.9% for Tymoshenko and 8% for Poroshenko. Some 7.1% of those polled are ready to vote for Batkivschyna faction leader Arseniy Yatseniuk, 6.9% for Svoboda leader Oleh Tiahnybok, 6.8% for incumbent President Viktor Yanukovych, and only 1.6% for Communist Party leader Petro Symonenko.

Some 1.2% of respondents would vote for another candidate, and the rest were undecided or would not participate in the election.

The study was conducted in Kyiv from April 3 to April 8, 2013. A total of 1,216 respondents aged over 18 were interviewed. The poll’s margin of error does not exceed 2.9% with a probability of 0.95.
