Poll: Party of Regions 4% ahead of united opposition

The Party of Regions tops the electoral preferences in the Verkhovna Rada election.


The Interfax-Ukraine News Agency – a company belonging to the Interfax Information Services international group – has been an information provider in the political and economic information market of Ukraine since 1992.


The Party of Regions tops the electoral preferences in the Verkhovna Rada election. It is 4% ahead of the united opposition, judging by the Ukraine and Ukrainians survey the Center for Social and Marketing Research SOCIS and the Kuras Institute of Political and Ethnic Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine conducted in September.

The Party of Regions enjoys the support of 21.2% of voters, while Batkivschyna can count on 17.2% of votes.

The UDAR Party of Vitaliy Klitschko and the Ukrainian Communist Party rank third and fourth, with 12.7% and 9.4% of votes.

Freedom has 3.4%, and Natalia Korolevskaya's party, Ukraine Forward, has 3.2%.

Other parties are supported by less than 1% of voters.

About 80% of voters may take part in elections, and approximately 15% will not.

The survey was carried out from Sept. 7 to 17, with the participation of 2,400 respondents.
