Poltava Mayor Oleksandr Mamai has entered the Regions Party, according to an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent.

Mamai at the 14th conference of the regional organization of the Regions Party on Saturday was handed in a party membership card.

“When one party is in power, there will be order in the country. One political force should manage the country,” Mamai commented on his decision, adding that he intends to carry out active agitation during the pre-election campaign.

Mamai was nominated from the Conscience of Ukraine party in the election of Poltava mayor in 2010.

Along with that, the Regions Party supported his candidature and did not put forward its own candidate.

The parliamentary elections in Ukraine will be held on October 28.
