You're reading: Poroshenko Bloc’s draft agreement: Ministers in new government should be nominated by coalition members

The draft coalition agreement proposed by the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko envisages that participants of the coalition will put forward candidates for ministers, while quotas for deputy ministers are not allowed.

“The prime minister and each member of the Cabinet should support this coalition agreement through signing a personal commitment to its execution … and enforce this coalition agreement within their area of their responsibility,” says the document published on Oct. 29.

The draft agreement says that a minister “determines candidates for the posts of his deputies, as well as heads and deputy heads of central executive agencies whose activities are directed and coordinated by the minister, and quotas for these posts are not allowed.”

The failure to perform their duties, as described in this agreement, by members of the Cabinet of Ministers is the reason for their dismissal. Coalition members who nominated the person concerned should ensure his or her resignation, the draft agreement reads.
