During the summit in Wales, NATO announced the creation of four trust funds for providing assistance to Ukraine, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said.

“I would like to thank all participating countries for strong support, including financial support, declared by them today after assuming the obligation to contribute to four trust funds,” he said after a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission in Newport (Wales) on Thursday, Sept. 4.

Poroshenko said that these funds “are devoted to important areas of security: the improvement of logistics, the command system, the improvement of communications, and the organization of cyber defense of Ukraine.”

He also said that some countries had agreed to receive wounded Ukrainian servicemen for treatment and rehabilitation and that some countries had promised to supply medical equipment and medicines to Ukraine.

“The sphere of our cooperation at a bilateral level with NATO member states is extremely wide,” Poroshenko said.
