You're reading: President asks PM to dismiss ministers that impede reform implementation

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has instructed Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov to dismiss ministers that are impeding the reform implementation process.

"There are intentions to delay reforms and I would like to ask the first vice premier and the economy minister, who are directly in charge of this, to monitor [the situation] regularly. Mykola Yanovych [Azarov], speaking about ministers that are consciously impeding reform implementation, as a result of which the economy and citizens suffer, I think, such ministers should not work in the Cabinet of Ministers," Yanukovych said at a meeting of the Council of Regions in Kyiv on Thursday.

The president asked the premier to submit specific proposals on the results of such monitoring."If you don’t do this, I will do this at the Economic Council, but this will be absolutely another conclusion," Yanukovych said.

The president said the reform implementation process in the country should be accelerated. According to him, the economic growth has slowed down over the recent four months, and negative tendencies have been noticed in some sphere of economy.
