The leadership of the Kachanivska penal colony sees no grounds to grant the request of Ukraine's imprisoned former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko to allow media representatives to visit her, the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine has reported.

“All requests from prisoner Tymoshenko on the admission of media representatives are considered by the prison administration. There is no reason and opportunity to satisfy such requests,” the service’s press office reported.

The press service said that Tymoshenko is a convict who is serving her prison term for committing a serious crime and she is not even in prison, but at hospital.

“At hospital there is a specially guarded room for the convict, which in no way foresees the possibility of holding press conferences or briefings,” reads the statement.
