You're reading: Prosecutor’s office holding inquiry into fighting in Rada’s session hall

Pechersky District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv is holding an inquiry into the December 16 brawl in the session hall of the Verkhovna Rada.

The materials of the checks have been submitted to the District Prosecutor’s Office, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office told Interfax-Ukraine on Friday.

So far, the Prosecutor General’s Office haven’t received any appeals from lawmakers, the press service said.

As reported, on Thursday a fight broke out between Ukrainian parliament deputies representing the ruling Party of Regions with the opposition deputies of the BYT-Batkivschyna faction who had disrupted the day’s session of the legislature in protest at criminal action against their leader, former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko. Two members of the BYuT-Batkivschyna faction was injured and hospitalized. After the verbal wrangles, the BYT- Batkivschyna members left the session hall.

Members of the Party of Region spent the night in the parliament’s hall.
