The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine is investigating another criminal case into the abuse of power during the conclusion of the gas contracts in 2009, the PGO's press service reported on Monday.

"The Main Department for the investigation of particularly important cases is probing into a criminal case on the abuse of power during the signing of the gas agreements in 2009, which has been severed into a separate criminal case," the Prosecutor General’s Office said in a statement.

The press service said on Monday that the electronic media reported that deputy leader of the Batkivschyna Party and a former first deputy prime minister of Yulia Tymoshenko’s government, Oleksandr Turchynov, and a former deputy prime minister and current deputy head of the Batkivschyna Party, Hryhoriy Nemyria, were summoned to the investigator of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

"It is in this criminal case (which was made into separate criminal proceedings), Turchynov and Nemyria were summoned as witnesses to provide necessary evidence," the Prosecutor General’s Office said.

In turn, Turchynov confirmed that on Monday, he was summoned to the Prosecutor General’s Office as a witness in this case.

The politician said he asked the investigators why they conducted questioning in the case, which hasd already been submitted to court by the presidential administration," already submitted to the court.

"I was told that it was taken out into a separate case on the "gas contracts", and they continue to investigate specific details," Turchynov told journalists on Monday in front of the Main Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine.

"I understand that the employees of Naftogaz Ukrainy appear in this case," he added.
