More face-to-face questionings will be conducted as part of the criminal investigation in relation to Ukraine's second president Leonid Kuchma [whose tenure lasted from 1994 to 2005], while the investigation may be separated from the probe into the killing of journalist Georgy Gongadze and its files referred to court, said Ukraine's Deputy Prosecutor General Renat Kuzmin.

"Face-to-face questionings will be continued," Kuzmin said at a press conference in Kyiv on Monday.

"The Kuchma case may be separated from the Gongadze probe and its files may be referred to court," he said.

"The main case, related to perpetrators of Gongadze’s killing, is being probed by the Prosecutor General’s Office, Kuzmin said.

Concerning former State Bodyguard Service Major Mykola Melnychenko’s tapes, which experts qualified as authentic, "several forensic agencies had analyzed them," he said.

"If the defense lawyers wish to read the experts’ statement, they have the right to file a relevant request," he said.
