Ukraine's Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka has given permission for former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko to obtain medical treatment outside the penal colony in Kharkiv where she is serving her prison term.

"After considering a relevant address by Tymoshenko’s defense team, handed to him by members of the BYT parliamentary faction during a meeting on March 23, 2012, Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka instructed the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine and the Health Ministry to take steps to ensure Tymoshenko’s medical examination and treatment at a specialized medical center outside Kachanivska penal colony in compliance with the law," the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office reported on April 2.
