You're reading: Putin in conversation with Poroshenko confirms Moscow’s commitment to peaceful resolution

 MOSCOW - The presidents of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and Petro Poroshenko, respectively, have stressed the importance of ensuring a durable ceasefire in the southeast of Ukraine.

 During their telephone conversation on Sept. 9, Putin and Poroshenko “emphasized the importance for the parties to the internal Ukrainian conflict to ensure a sustained ceasefire in the South-East of the country,” the Kremlin press office said on Sept. 9.

“Putin confirmed the readiness of the Russian Federation to continue facilitating peaceful resolution of the crisis,” the statement said.

“There was also an exchange of views on the pressing topics of economic cooperation. It has been agreed to continue work at various levels in addressing the issues that arose in the context of Ukraine signing an association agreement with the EU,” the Kremlin said.
