The Party of Regions has excluded from its ranks Viktor Yanukovych on the basis of his application.

The relevant decision was made at a party congress in Kyiv on Saturday. The congress is being held behind closed doors.

One of the delegates told an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent that the party also excluded from its ranks former Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, ex-head of the Income and Tax Ministry Oleksandr Klymenko, former First Vice Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov, chairman of Donetsk Regional Council Andriy Shyshatsky, and former MP Valeriy Konovaliuk.
