Kyiv, April 24 – Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko's intention to demand the retraction of reports about the killing of MP Yevhen Scherban in a court in London is another smear campaign to stop the investigation of a high-profile criminal case, the Regions Party has claimed.

This is another smear campaign that has absolutely nothing to do with jurisprudence," the first deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada committee on legislative support for law enforcement activities, Volodymyr Oliynyk (the Regions Party faction) said, while commenting on a statement made by Tymoshenko’s defense lawyer, Serhiy Vlasenko, regarding the intention to file a lawsuit against Ukrainian First Deputy Prosecutor General Renat Kuzmin in a court in London.

"All Ukrainian citizens have heard in what form First Deputy Attorney General Kuzmin provided information. He said there was information that has to be verified. He has never talked about any involvement, accusations, or guilt. He said that that there is evidence that has to be checked," the press service of the Regions Party cited Oliynyk as saying.

As reported, Tymoshenko’s defense lawyer, Serhiy Vlasenko, is planning to file a lawsuit, on behalf of the ex-premier, with a court in London against Ukrainian First Deputy Prosecutor General Kuzmin.
