Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych is ready to help unblock the work of the Verkhovna Rada, but lawmakers have not yet exhausted all the possibilities of negotiations, the Party of Regions has said.

“I had a conversation with the president on this matter. He is concerned about the situation in parliament and has offered his services in order to resolve this issue,” Leader of the Party of Regions faction Oleksandr Yefremov said at a briefing on Tuesday, when asked why Yanukovych hasn’t not yet expressed his position on the matter.

“We discussed with the president the issue of when the legislature will start its work and address the matters which are important to the state. When the president takes part in international meetings and when we have the summit with the EU at hand, where we have to comply with all our obligations, the president is above all concerned with the implementation of legislative decisions that Ukraine should adopt in order to show Europe that there are no problems on our part,” Yefremov said.

According to him, the president asked what he should do to unblock the parliament’s work.

“I said that the deputies had not run out of all of the possibilities in the negotiation process so far,” he added.

Yefremov said Yanukovych is also concerned about the issue of solving economic problems.
