You're reading: Registration of candidates to run in early parliamentary elections in Ukraine ended

The Ukrainian Central Elections Commission (CEC) has finished the registration of candidates to run in early parliamentary elections scheduled for Oct. 26.

The CEC held a final session on Friday to consider applications on the registration of candidates in majority electoral districts nominated by a number of political parties and self-nominees.

A total of 322 candidates in majority districts were registered on Tuesday, including thirteen nominated by parties and 309 self-nominees.

In addition, a number of unemployed candidates not affiliated with any parties and introducing themselves as Darth Vader were registered in 9 districts of Kyiv.

A total of 3,468 candidates have been registered to run in the elections in majority districts, including 2,087 self-nominees and 1,381 those nominated by parties.

Candidates representing twenty-nine parties have also been registered to run in the multi-mandate national electoral district.
