Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has conferred a rank of general on the chief of the Security Service of Ukraine, Valeriy Khoroshkovsky.

A relevant decree dated August 12, 2011, was posted on the president’s Web site.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appointed Khoroshkovsky head of the Security Service of Ukraine on March 11, 2010.

Khoroshkovsky is also a state adviser of the Customs Service of Ukraine.

On Jan. 28, 2009, Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko appointed Khoroshkovsky first deputy chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine.

On March 18, 2009, he was appointed head of the Anti-Terrorism Center at the Security Service of Ukraine.

Since March 1, 2010, while SBU Chief Valentyn Nalyvaichenko was on leave, Khoroshkovsky had temporarily performed his duties.
