Seven MPs from the BYT faction were bribed to vote for the resignation of Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko, MP from the BYT Serhiy Sobolev claimed on Mar. 3.
"For one person it concerns the title of Hero of Ukraine, for others, it concerns political bids, and for others it was thirty pieces of silver for which they were bought. For this reason, this morning in the faction we uncovered those who whished [to vote for Tymoshenko’s resignation] and these wishes were confirmed by the relevant motives about which we learned beforehand," he said.
Asked who exactly voted for Tymoshenko’s resignation, Sobolev said: "I would call them representatives of the business branch, although each of them has their own business."
"I think there was a direct motive that concerned both money and positional advantages," he said.
As reported, a total of 243 MPs backed a resolution on a vote of no confidence in the Cabinet of Ministers after the parliament considered this issue put forward by the Regions Party. Those who voted for the resolution included 172 Regions Party MPs, seven Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko MPs, 15 Our Ukraine-People’s Self-Defense Bloc MPs, 19 Bloc of Lytvyn MPs, 27 Communist Party MPs, and three MPs representing no faction.
From the BYT faction the following MPs supported Tymoshenko’s resignation: Vitaliy Barvinenko, Hennadiy Zadirko, Volodymyr Kaplienko, Hryhoriy Omelchenko, Ihor Savchenko, Oleh Cherpytsky and Yuriy Poluneyev.
